US soldier killed

One soldier and two civilians were killed in a roadside bomb in Western Bagdad early this morning.

According to the U.S. military this puts the deathtoll of U.S. troops killed in the Iraq war to 1,319.

Police targeted again

In Baquba a policeman was shot dead by rebels, the third in three days.
In Nasiriya the body of a policeman was fished out of the Euphrates river.
And a police station in the Mamun district was hit by mortar, killing one policeman and injuring two others.

Can't help but think of Iraqi police as sandbags.

Three killed in mosque attack

Suicide bomber kills nine

A suicide car bomber has killed nine and wounded thirteen when he drove his car into an Iraqi National Guard checkpoint.
