Baghdad bombings
At least 87 people have been killed and more than 160 injured in a series of 11 car bomb attacks and shootings in Baghdad.
6:30am: A car bomb explodes in the mainly Shia populated district of Kadhimiyah, killing around 80.
8:30am: A car bomber blows himself up, no one else is killed.
10:00am: A car bomber rams an Iraqi military convoy, killing three soldiers in al-Adel district of west Baghdad.
10:10am: A third bomber kills four in the Shula neighbourhood of northwest Baghdad.
10:12am: US soldiers are injured when a suicide bomber rams their Humvee in east Baghdad. No one is killed.
Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's al-Qaida have claimed responibility for the bombings in response to the US operations in Tal Afar.
17 Iraqi's were also shot dead by gunmen dressed in military uniform in a village north of Baghdad.
The men were handcuffed, blindfolded and then shot.
The dead included one police officer as well as other people who worked as drivers and construction workers for the US army
Aljazeera have once again called the attacks 'suicide bombings' this will severly piss people off as the Qur'an forbids suicide and for this reason they call themselves marytrs.
Other Arabic news sources have come under threat recently for using the 'suicide' label.
